Padre Pio (1881 – 1968) received visible stigmata in 1918 and for the next fifty years bore the wounds of Christ as the first stigmatist priest in history. Despite his constant suffering he heard confessions for several hours every day and guided countless souls to holiness. He was a model of humility despite the fame that he gained because of the mystical gifts attributed to him. The richness of his inte­rior life is revealed in his letters, from which the quotations in this book are drawn. He was canonized in 2002.

Beautiful little book

Quotations from Padre Pio is a beautiful little book. It’s smaller than an average book, but bigger than a pocket size. It’s absolutely the perfect size for traveling, for example. It fits neatly into my laptop carrier. It would also make a wonderful gift. The cover is so pretty, as you can see from the website. I love how the quotes are organized by topic. You can read from cover to cover, or skip around to sections that resonate with you based upon your feelings/needs from day to day.

This is a book of single, mostly one line quotes of Padre Pio. It’s divided into segments of Faith, Piety, Hope, etc and related to the rosary . I didn’t read it all as I purchased for a gift.
