Experience the richness of the Loreto Embroideries now in print. The Litany of Loreto is a prayer that dates back to the Middle Ages and now includes over 50 titles of Mary, all having to do Mary's relationship to us and to God.

In 1912 the artist, Ezio Anichin released drawings of 46 of the Litany of Loreto titles in this breathtaking Art Nouveau style. A mysterious and unknown artist stiched the embroideries, worked mostly in long and short stitch on a rich cream satin background in shades of beige, fawn, and brown silks, as well as white, warmed and enriched with gold threads. They were then sent as a gift to an elderly nun, who sent them to the SHCJ Mayfield Convent in Surrey, England, for safekeeping during World War II. They are now held by the Royal School of Needlework in London, regarded as masterpieces of beauty, design, and execution.

This set of 8 images have been expertly restored to bring out the richness of the colors and the precision of the needlework. Included are the following titles:

  1. The Annunciation
  2. Madonna and Child
  3. Holy Mary, Pray for us!
  4. Mother Undefiled
  5. Mirror of Justice
  6. Queen of All Saints
  7. Health of the Sick
  8. Virgin Most Merciful

About the prints:

  • 8.5 x 11" acid-free paper
  • Archival pigments, rated to last for generations
  • Summary and history of piece
  • frame not included
  • Made in the USA

Please note: There is a white border measuring 1.3 around the image". Fine art printers do this because the images are almost never the same rectangular ratio of the standard paper sizes. It also gives the prints a finished look, and lets them look good in a frame without a matte.

Gorgeous Prints!

I missed out on these gorgeous prints the first time they were featured as they sold out so quickly. I immediately purchased them when they became available again and am so grateful. They are a beautiful addition to our home.
